Bach performed this chorale cantata for the first time in Leipzig on New Year’s Day 1725. The score has the 2nd movement, an aria for soprano, 3 oboes and basso continuo in a 6/8 time. Bach uses the 2nd verse of the chorale the cantata is based upon, “Jesum nun sei gepreiset” from Johannes Herman, as an inspiration for the actual text in the aria.
