Cantata for the Sunday Exaudi
Bach performed this cantata on 21st of May 1724. The score contains the complete cantata. It is based on Bachs autograph. Especially in the 6th aria there are a lot of articulations which need to be added. Check the autograph parts (see below) for more details. The cantata starts with a duet for tenor, bass, two oboes & b.c. citing the first sentence of the gospel:
Sie werden euch in den Bann tun.
It is followed by a choir with the next sentence:
Es kommt aber die Zeit, dass, wer euch tötet, wird meinen, er tue Gott einen Dienst daran.
Next comes an aria for alto, oboe & b.c After this aria follows a choral for tenor and b.c. on the first verse of Martin Mollers choral “Ach Gott wie manches Herzeleid”. The last joyful aria is for soprano, 2 oboes, strings & b.c. The cantata closes with the 9th verse of the choral “In allen meinen Taten” by Paul Fleming.
